OPEN DAY 2020
6 SEPTEMBER AT 1400
We are delighted to be holding our very first Open Day, in conjunction with the Wholesome Food Association and the Carmarthenshire Meadows Group.
Come and meet our wonderful animals and find out how we are helping endangered Large Black pigs, learn about our traditional hay meadows and rare rhos pasture on a guided tour of the farm, and discover how we are managing the land to maintain and increase biodiversity. You can also taste our fabulous Large Black pork. Frozen joints and chops will be available to buy, and we will be taking orders for half pigs and tasting boxes
We have limited spaces available, so please book either through the Facebook Event here, or email us using the contact form here.
The tour of the farm will be around an hour, over rough and damp ground, up and down hill, including fording a stream, so please bring appropriate footwear.
Teas / coffees / cold drinks will be provided, but we ask that you bring your own mug to avoid cross-contamination.
Toilet facilities will be available, along with hand sanitizer etc
There will be the opportunity to taste our pork and buy joints or place orders if you wish. Eggs will also be available to purchase.
No dogs, please, due to the animals and our slightly grumpy elderly collie.
Directions:
We are at Berllan Dywyll Farm, SA17 5LL.
From the North and East (Carmarthern, Llanelli etc)
Head for the Common between Bancffosfelen and Crwbin (Llangyndeyrn Mountain). Do NOT take the lane from Bancffosfelen.
Turn south on the common, between the bus stop and post box (left if you have come from Pontyberem, right if from Crwbin).
Go over the cattle grid, through the sharp S bend, and take the small lane immediately on the left.
From the South (Kidwelly etc)
Head for the village of Meinciau.
In the village turn North at the bus stop, where there is a house right on the corner of the road.
Follow the lane for mile or so until you pass a couple of large farms, and a large wind turbine on the right.
Shortly afterwards, at the top of a small hill, take the small lane on the right.
Then:
Go down the lane 200 yards until you see a farm track on the right (signed with the farm name).
DRIVE SLOWLY through the farmyard, and follow the farm track until it splits.
Take the left hand fork which will take you into our farmyard.
