Black Orchard is a slice of beautiful Welsh countryside, and we want you to thoroughly enjoy living in and experiencing the delights of Berllan Dywyll Farm.
Explore the fields and woodlands; pick something for dinner from the foraging area; play Pooh-sticks in the river; have a picnic in the woods; learn to cook on a campfire using a tripod and Dutch oven; see how many species of bird you can spot from the hide...
Children, or indeed adults, are very welcome, by arrangement, to help with simple farm tasks such as collecting eggs or feeding lambs in season. If the adults want to do something a bit more active then there are many jobs needing doing around the farm and an extra pair of hands is always welcome - just ask. There may also be opportunities to meet some of the animals, such as Ben the Shire horse and his friend Thorn, at close quarters, on request.
Ask us about "The Way of the Woods", a guided walk around the farm explaining the folklore, history and uses of many of the plants and trees to be found on the land, and concluding with a foraged meal cooked on the open fire. (Charges apply).
